Yes, you can check any POP account.
This statement is simply NOT true. Google requires SSL for POP3 on port 995 and Exchange's POP3 Connector will not support that. Although we no longer use POP3 -- as other posters correctly state, it should only be a transitional solution -- there is evidently a way around the SSL-POP3 issue using stunnel.
