RE: POP3 Connector - SBS2003

Hi Robert

The way I added 'mspop3connector' was to go to the Server Management and
click on Users. I Selected the user by double clicking on the user. I then
clicked the email addresses tab. I then added a new smtp type and enter the
name as mspop3connector.mattc@xxxxxxxxxxxx where mattc is the username of the
user who I want the BCC email to go to.

So since I have added the 'mspop3connector' line to the email addresses for
this user he has been receiving emails that would normally bounce instead of
coming through to him. These emails were sent as a BCC and there were
multiple receipients. Now the sender still gets a NDR but the user is
receiving it at this end as if nothing has gone wrong.

When I send emails to the user mattc as a BCC they go through even if I have
8 people on the BCC list. For some reason certain other users emails just
bounce. I emailed the log to the email address you told me to and you will
see emails sent from a Natasa bouncing but now they are still going through
to user mattc.

An example of a NDR is:

From: postmaster@xxxxxxxxxxxx
[mailto:postmaster@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]

Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

undisclosed-recipients:
mspop3connector.mattc@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope this info helps in trying to find a solution.

Regards

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your reply.

Please let me know the detail step on how add 'mspop3connector' to the
internal email address.

Please help me collect the following information. Thanks for your time.

1. When using BCC, do all users get NDRs? If you BCC to one instead of
multiple recipient, will you still get NDR?

2. A sample of NDR.

3. Message Tracking:

Open ESM, on the General tab in the server's Properties dialog box, select
the Enable message tracking check box. After the issue is reproduced,
Please wait about 15 minutes and then go to the message tracking folder and
collect the message tracking log for us.

By default, the message tracking logs locate under the folder:C:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\servername.log

Please send the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:

<Hello Adam,
<
<Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
<
<From your description, I know that you use POP3 connector to retrieve
mails
<from ISP. If you BCC to an individual mailbox, you may get a NDR. If I am
<off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
<
<Please take the following steps to see if the problem can be resolved:
<
<Step 1: First please rerun the CEICW wizard. This helps to configure the
<network and e-mail setting correctly:
<
<1. Run the CEICW and configure the network settings.
<2. Go through firewall option.
<3. In the Internet E-mail tab, please click to "Enable Internet E-mail".
<4. In the Email Delivery method page, please choose the correct email
<delivery method. If you need to forward internet email to your ISP
<Smarthost, please input the Smarthost address correctly. If you use DNS to
<route emails, please choose this option.
<
<Note: If you choose to forward emails to the ISP's email server (smart
<host), you need to type the FQDN of the ISP's email server. If your ISP
<provides you the IP address of their email server, for example,
<12.34.56.78, you should type the IP address as "[12.34.56.78]" (without
the
<quotation marks) on the connector's properties page.
<
<5. In the E-mail Retrieval Method page, check the "Use the Microsoft
<Connector for POP3 Mailboxes" check box, click Next.
<6. In the E-mail Domain Name page, enter your registered e-mail Internet
<domain name, (i.e. domain.com).
<7. In the POP3 Mailbox Accounts page, click Add and add the appropriate
<POP3 mailbox accounts, then click Next.
<8. Input the correct information in the rest page and finish the wizard.

<Step 2 : The POP3 Conn Event Sink may be corrupted and therefore messages
<will NDR with the mspop3conn recipients. To fix this, run imbreg.exe
which
<is located in the %systemroot%\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business
<Server\Networking\POP3 folder.
<
<Step 3: Please check the following folders to see if you can find the
<problematic emails:

<Server\Networking\POP3\Failed Mail
<
<Step 4: In addition, please enable diagnostic logging for the POP3
<Connector on SBS 2003, reproduce the problem, and then send the event logs
<toe me for analysis:
<
<1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then
<click System Manager.
<2. In the left pane, expand the Connectors node.
<3. Right-click POP3 Connection Manager, and then click Properties.
<4. Switch to the ''Troubleshooting'' tab, and then change ''Logging

<5. Click OK to apply changes.
<6. Close the System Manager console.
<7. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then
<click Services.
<8. In the left pane, right-click Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes,
