Re: ISA Blocking Site

Thanks for the ideas. I ended up opening port 80 on the XP machine (for my subnet only) and this seemed to work since I can access the site now from other computers on the network. Do you think this is a risky opening to have? Is there a better way to make this available?

Hello Brandon,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you cannot access the
intranet web site on a internal member computer from other computer. If I
have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, the firewall on the XP client or the web proxy
settings may relate to this issue. I suggest we try the following steps to
see if we can resolve this issue:

Step 1: Disable XP firewall

By default, the XP firewall will not allow inbound web access, so you can
only access the web site from itself. Please try to disable the windows
firewall on the XP which hold the intranet web site and then test this
issue.

Stop the service: Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to
disable windows firewall on the XP

If you install other firewall on the XP, please also disable it.

Step 2: If the ISA server cannot properly proxy the web access request to
the internal IP address, we can reconfigure the web proxy on the other
internal computers:
1. Open IE Internet options on other client computers.

2. Click Connections tap, click LAN Setting button

3. Uncheck the option "Automatically detect settings"

3. Tick option "Use a proxy server for your LAN¡", and input the ISA
address and port 8080 (by default)

4. Click Advanced button, in the Exceptions box, please input the IP
address of the XP which hold the intranet web site.

5. Click OK three times. Then try to access the web site thru the IP
address.

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| I have an intranet site on a member computer (running XP Pro SP2). I can
