Any reason you are using DHCP on the Router instead of SBS ?
Have you tried manually configuring the Vista Box NIC ?
Whnat's the IPconfig /all from the SBServer

I have purchased a new workstation with Vista Business. I am running a
local
domain on SBS2003 SP2 with all needed hofixes and updates, as per the many
threads available on this topic.
How ever as I try to connect this computer to the domain it asks me to run
nshelp.exe, i run this and it thenpops up with the following message;
"The server that is running Windows SBS 2003 cannot be found. Verify the
following before you continue:
Ensure that the client computer has a wired network connection to the
Windows SBS netwok.
If you have a router performing DHCP services on your network, verify that
the router is configured to use the computer running windows SBS as a
primary
DNS server. For more information about router configuration settings, see
Appendix C of "Getting started" at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=34392.
If you use a public proxy server to browse the internet, clear the
Internet
Explorer connection setting for using a proxy server. To do this, from the
Tool menu, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, click the
LAN
Settings button, and than clear the check box in Proxy Server."
I have the a FVS318v3 Netgear VPN router as my DHCP server and have 14
other
XP machines connected to the server. Netgear assure me that there device
is
not the problem.
If I try and manually connect to the domain through computer, properties,
change settings, member of a Domain. I get the following Error message.
" The following error accurred attempting to join the domain "domainname":
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has
failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that
can resolve DNS names in the target domain"
So there it is. I have beentrying to fix this and have read too much over
the past 2 days but have failed miserably.
Can someone please offer some assistance as I am about to go back to XP
but
really would like to make this new box of _____ work.
