Re: SBS2003R2>Windows Mobile>Verizon>Motorla Q phone

For Windows Vista, you need the Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows
Vista

I'm using it with my HP iPAQ and O2 Atom Life running WM6

Hello,

I just deployed SBS2003R2 (migrated from SBS2K), I am getting ready
to setup and test connectivity with several users Motorola Q phones
using Verizon. I am looking through the SBS/Mobile 5.0 deployment
doc dated 11/06, I have several questions which hopefully people can
help me with;
1. Active Sync 4.2 - this is a more recent version than the one which
comes w/ SBS2003R2 - is this still the proper one to use

I'd get the latest version, if you must use it (which you likely don't
need to)

2. 3rd part or self-signed certificates - what is the experince with
self signed - should they work on the Verizon Q?

Self-signed is a PITA if you have more than a tiny handful of users.Get a
decent third party cert - then tell your users how to configure their
devices. (e.g., "this is your servername, this is your domain name, now
enter your userID and password. Done.")

3. Vista Users - my understanding is that Active synch is no longer
neccessary starting with the VISTA release - is there any thing
special I need to do re: setting up a Vista user's mobile phone -
active snych or cert?

With wireless activesync, you don't even need a workstation, let alone
local activesync.

4. Any other observations would be appreciated

Thank you

John
