hi Mike,
Simply put, it would not be a good idea to host MOSS on the same physical
hardware as SBS, even in a virtual machine unless the box has exceptionally
high throughput (IO, CPU, ram). Too much overhead
From other msgs, this version of the Xeon isn't optimised for CPU contextor task switching that would occur in a VM.
When thinking of MOSS, usually I'd be thinking of high availability and web
farm
- doesn't have to be a big farm, 2 or 3 servers for the MOSS and 2 SQL for
HA.
The question is, what do you need MOSS for? Is there some functionaility
that
WSS ver3 (MOSS builds upon that) is unable to proivde? Such as per-user
customisation? If you only need group membership/customisation, rather than
individual, WSS3 might suffice.
HTH,
Eugene Tan

I recently bought MOSS 2007 for an emerging requirement and was poking
around blogs, websites, and NG's to learn more about it and came across
the term Virtual Server. I've seen it mentioned before by MVPs, usually
in conjunction with a test environment, so passed over it. Well, I went
to MS's page on Virtual Server and am now wondering if I can use this
product to host MOSS 2007 on my SBS box. Any advice?
Also, are there any good sites or blogs to start with on Virtual Server on
SBS that will help me learn about using it? I'm certainly not a pro, but
I think it could be very useful for our non-profit.
Many thanks in advance!
