Hi All
We have a client running SBS 2003 Premium with SQL Server 2000, which
supports a large membership database (this site was upgraded from SBS
2000.) The boss asked us whether, using a separate ADSL service, and
running a separate web server on the Windows Server 2003 platform, they
could host a web site for the membership which could use the LAN's SQL
Server? I think they envisage the membership updating their own records
& etc.
If we put a second NIC in the webserver, we could access the webserver
from the LAN... but...my questions are:
(1) What are the security implications for this approach?
(2) What would be the SQL Licensing position?
(3) Is there a better way?
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
Norm Hughes
I re-iterate my thanks to all respondees for the help. Henry, I will
contact you off-line to pursue the matter a little further (if that's OK
with you).
