Re: VPN Problems

Robert,
I found the problem is not with the client computers. I had problems earlier
with getting the internet working through the VPN. So I talked to someone on
this discussion board and they told me to uncheck the "Use default gateway on
remote network" box in the VPN tcpip advanced settings. I found out this is
why I couldn't connect to the other client computers. However, now that I
have checked the box again, I still need to know how I can get the internet
through the VPN connection.
Thanks,
Alma

Hi,.
Thanks for updating.
I made deep research on this issue, please take the following steps to see
if the problem can be resolved:
1. Force Kerberos to use TCP instead of UDP in Windows XP SP2 VPN client.
How to force Kerberos to use TCP instead of UDP
<http://support.microsoft.com/?id=244474>
2. Update the Kerberos.dll file to the latest version on the Windows XP SP2
VPN
client by applying the hotfix of the KB article 906681.
A user can log on to a Windows XP-based computer by using a user name and a
password, even though the "Smart card is required for interactive logon"
user account property is set
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;906681
3. Modified the registry value DisableDomainCreds to 1 to disable
Credential
Manager on one of the Windows XP SP2 VPN clients.
a. On the client, open Registry Editor, and locate the following key:
Key Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
b. Add or modify the following value and set the value data to 1:
Value Name: DisableDomainCreds
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Values Data: 0 or 1
Default Value: 0
Description: A setting of 0 allows domain credentials to be stored in the
Credential Manager, a value of 1 has the meaning of "do not store domain
credentials".
c. Restart the computer and test the issue again.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)
