Re: RWW without domain name

Ok, I finally got this working............ but I am not entirely sure what
the problem was. I had the firewall set to open the ports according to a
schedule. I changed it to allow them to be open at all times, rebooted
router and server and it worked. The odd thing is the schedule works fine on
port 3389.

Either way, got it working. Thanks for all the help.

Cris,

You will never find 4125 'open' from outside. Did you check 443 however?

yes I've replied to your email

I went here
http://dns.kify.com/dns.php

put in both ip and name you sent me and on the right side, checked
connectivity on port 4125 and it doesn't appear to be open 3389 did
respond

it appears the router may still be blocking

No, nothing comes up when I try that from outside the LAN.

I am wondering if it is being blocked from where I currently am (at
work, not able to access servers etc here as not my job)......... I
can
use Remote Desktop Connection to the server though from this
location.
However, I know this uses different ports than RWW so those may be
blocked. Is there any way I can email you the public IP and see if
you
are able to access from another network? It would then rule out me
being
blocked from here.

Just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some other "system" in
play

from the outside can you (and you can't test from inside your lan)
http://publicipaddress/exchange? Does the Outlook Web Access come
up?

No real reason behind it. As far as I am aware it causes no
hassles
anywhere.

Just out of curiousity...some reason you went out of your way to
change to this IP scheme for your internal network?

When you re-run the ceicw...and it asks you about the
certificate...did you "create a new one" and then specify the
external IP address as the URL for the certificate?

I just tried using https://servername/remote and it worked and
gave
me no certificate warning in the LAN. Thanks.

So now all I need to do is figure out why I cannot connect
externally. No idea what I should try next, I have ran the
CEICW
several times, checked I have the correct ports forwarded etc
but
cannot connect from outside.

if you were wanting to RWW from inside it would be
https://servername/remote

typically, to the best of my knowledge you shouldn't even get
the
certificate warning inside the LAN

I forgot to add, when accessing from inside the LAN I first
get
a
page warning me that "The security certificate presented by
this
website was issued for a different website's address" so I
don't
know if this is preventing me from accessing remotely (I have
no
experience using certificates).

Thanks.

The company do not currently have business email set up (I
think they just use an internet based email at the
moment)......... it's something I may try and persuade them
to
change at a later date.

Back onto the RWW issue......... I can't seem to get RWW to
work.......... If I am inside the LAN I can access it by
https://<serverlocalip>/remote but if I try to access it
from
the outside using either https://<dynamicdnsname>/remote or
https://<wanipaddress>/remote I get a page cannot be found
error.

I have ports 4125 and 443 open on the router, and ran the
CEICW
and have RWW enabled on the server.............. I can't
figure
out what I am missing.

Thanks.

Is it still possible to use RWW without a domain name?
for
example the users would need to enter
http://123.123.123.123
/remote to access the RWW?

Thanks.
