RE: Problem when renaming user name, account and email address

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

After changing the user information, everything looks good on the server
(Server Management, Users) and in Exchange, though it takes a few seconds for
the changes to propagate to Exchange.
The problem I'm running into is that the Global Address List is not updated
with the users new information in Outlook. So if someone tries to send them a
message it is rejected. It seems this corrects itself the next day so there
must be a process that runs at night to update the GAL for Outlook.
The strange thing is that if I use OWA the GAL has the changed information.
How do I run this process to get the GAL updated immediately for Outlook
after I make the change?
The other problem is the Alias is not being changed, how do I change the
alias field to reflect the user name change?

Hi,

Thanks for updating.

After you changed the E-mail address, did you set the new one as primary?
If the older one exists, please delete the older one.

If you have customized e-mail address, please uncheck Automatically update
e-mail address based on recipient policy.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
