I run a new account and the results are The only printer, out of six, that
does get assigned is MS image writer.

The printers are listed in AD, published in AD; the advanced client computer
settings have the options checked.
The Assign Applications wizardry does rely on the user being a local administrator - if you've overridden that behaviour (as I do), the applications won't be assigned, and the printers won't be installed.
