Hello Customer,
Thanks for posting here.
From your problem description, I understand this issue to be: it is veryslow when browsing shared folders on SBS server. If I have misunderstood
the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
As on my experience, this could be a client side issue or network
communication issue. To narrow down and identify it, I would like to
collect following information.
1. Does this issue happen when you browser client computers' shared folders
from SBS?
2. Does this issue happen when you browser client computers' shared folders
from another client computer?
3. Does the slow problem reoccur when you access the OWA or RWW from
internal client?
4. Does the Internet access very slow, too?
To troubleshoot this issue, I would also suggest you try the following
steps.
1. Please disable the SMB signing which may cause this issue and test
again.
Make sure the value of the following keys are all '0' on both the SBS
server and all the clients:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
\enablesecuritysignature
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
\requiresecuritysignature
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\param
eters\enablesecuritysignature
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\param
eters\requiresecuritysignature
For detail info:
You cannot open file shares or Group Policy snap-ins when you disable SMB
signing for the Workstation or Server service on a domain controller

2. Please refer to the steps in the following KB article, although the
symptom may not be exact same.
Files on network shares open slowly, opens as read-only, or you receive an
error message
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=814112
It may take 35 seconds to delete files over the network

If we can not resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
kindly help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. Save the application event log and system event log as evt files on the
problematic machine and send to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. Gather MPS report on SBS
a. Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE. to download the file.
b. Run the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE on the server box.
c. Wait for 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows explorer, navigate to
%SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| If someone needs more info, I'll send it. However, the cause appears to
be
| the failure of the XP<->SBS'03R2 dialog as captured by MS NM: hundreds
and
| thousands of messages, with the SMB error codes 549 and 52.
| Sample:
| 12 66.969134 SBS0001.domain.local 172.16.16.26 SMB SMB: R; Transact2,
Open2
| - NT Status: System - Error, Code = (52) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND
| I've looked everywhere, and there is very little documented on this.
| Does anyone have experience with this, or can an MVP point me in the
right
| direction to review the trace and get to the cause of this?
| I've read the knowledge base article, none seem quite the fit
| Thanks.
|
| PS Server is not on SP2., XP WS are Pro 2002 SP2, all updates applied.
