How do I deal with this printer error?

I have a label printer on one of my clients (LPT1:) and this is shared to all users. The printer was last used on Friday without problem and no-one has interacted with it since this morning when I got the following message on one of my client computers.

"The printer driver is not configured properly to allow client connections.

You may either try again to connect, or disable network features. If you disable network features, you can turn them on again later in the Network settings dialog.

Without connectivity, features like bidirectional communication and configuration sharing will not be available."

I could not clear the error with the retry button so finally hit disable. I could then get into the printer properties on my client to check the drivers printing preferences. (I was only wanting to check a custom label size to use on another site).

Following this I found that I had the same error on the PC that the printer was physically connected to and any printing resulted in a blank page.

I'm assuming that what I did on the networked client could not have effected the local printer installation/settings and that the error message is something that has occurred over the weekend.

Other than that I have no idea how to proceed or what the error is trying to tell me.

Any help is really appreciated as we can't despatch any products.
