RE: sbs2003 and adding a user

Hello Brian,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that the new user account can
not be assigned printer. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't
hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

1. Please ensure that the printer is in our XP and windows 2003 and 2000
HCL:

Products Designed for Microsoft Windows - Windows Catalog and HCL
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx

2. Ensure the client computer is windows 2000 or later.

3. If you install new printer to replace the old one on the SBS, please
ensure the old printer is deleted from SBS server. And ensure the new
printer is sharing out and listing in AD:

a. Open the printer properties on SBS

b. Select Sharing tap, select Share this printer and tick List in the
directory.

c. Click OK to finish.

4. Ensure that all accounts have correct login script setting

a. Open Server Management consol on SBS

b. Select Users node, double-click user account in right pane.

c. Select Profile tap, ensure the "SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat" input in Logon
script box.

d. Click OK to finish.

5. After change the printers in SBS, you have to log off and log on one
time in every client and make sure the clients run this logon script.

If we can not resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
kindly help me collect some information for further investigation:

1. What's your SBS edition?

2. What's your client OS?

3. Do all new created accounts have same issue?

4. Do the old accounts have the same issue?

5. Please send the SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat file to my mailbox:
v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

6. Gather MPS report

a. Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE. to download the file.

b. Run the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE on the server box.

c. Wait for 10~15 minutes.

d. Open Windows explorer, navigate to
%SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\cab\

e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Of late, I have noticed that when I add a user, no of the network

| If it's in the template properties I don't see it.
