Re: aboute the internet connect after install sbs2003

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

This doesn't make sense. Who configured that router? What is the subnet mask
and default GW on 0/0 and 0/1?
Tell me what routing tables are on the Cisco.

Do you have a public IP assigned by your ISP? If yes, what is it? And what
is the subnet mask and the default GW

hi,Claus
thank for your help,i need your help.
now , the router have three ip address, one connect the isp's modem
172.30.X.X,e0/0, the e0/1 conncet the swith ,bounded two ip address , one
is
218.241.X.X , another is 192.168.0. X, this private ip act as default
gateway.
after installed the sbs 2003 box , i think must delete the private ip in
the
router's e0/1 port ,remain the purblic ip .the sbs box have two NICs, one
connect the router's e0/1, ip is 218.241.X.Y, one connect the switch , ip
is
192.168.x.z. the sbs box install isa 2004 ,route the traffic ,and the
192.168.x.z act as the default gateway .

Well, if you don't think so, I guess I can't help.

A router by definition routes traffic from one subnet to another. So from
your perspective (inside your network) the router has a LAN address that
should be in the same subnet as you current LAN. Otherwise you would be
able
to get out. What is the current LAN address of your router?
The WAN side of the router belongs to a different subnet. What is that
address?
From what I understood in your initial post you currently have the
following
network: Modem (what kind) - Cisco router (what model) - LAN (connected
to a
switch I assume).

i do not think so ,
the LAN default gateway must be the sbs LAN ip address such as
192.168.0.x,the sbs WAN ip address must be a public ip address ,and the
router connect to the sbs ethernet port the ip must be a public ip
address
the same subnet of the sbs WAN ip address.the router do not need the
LAN
ip
address any.

"Claus" wrote:

In a typical setup you would have your LAN as something like
192.168.10.x
(192.168.10.1 for the SBS LAN) and 192.168.1.10 (or anything other
than
10.x) for the SBS WAN NIC. All you need to do is to change the router
LAN
IP
to the same subnet as your SBS WAN like 192.168.1.1 and use that
address
on
the SBS WAN NIC for the gateway.

right,
the problem is how to config the router ?the router connect the sbs
side
must be config one ip address which the public ip ?the sbs box will
be
the
default gateway.

Hi,

So one nic is connected to a switch where the clients are
connecting
to
too,
right? And the other nic is connected to that Cisco router? Make
sure
that
the server nics are in different IP ranges.
