Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I'd like to give you the following suggestions:
1. Rebuild a Windows SBS with different domain name and server name.
2. Restore the data from backup.
3. Run CEICW to change the user recipient policy
4. Run connect computer wizard to join to domain and migrate user profile.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)

<> Hello,
<>
<> Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
<>
<> From your description, I know you want to change your domain name andSBS
<> server name. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
<>
<> First, I would also like to know the exact reason why you want to change
<> the domain of yourSBSserver. If you just want to change the name of the
<> e-mail address, you only need to change recipient policy. For yourSBS
<> domain, the name that the external users (internet user) try to access
yourSBSserver could be re-registered at your ISP and it could be different
<> from your internalSBSdomain name. For the outgoing email domain name, it
<> is decided by the recipient policy. You could even re-run the CEICW to
<> change it. I think the internal domain name does not affect too much on
<> yourSBSoperation.
<>
<> If you would like to change the email domain name, you could simply
re-run
<> the CEICW and re-input the Email domain in the wizard. To run the CEICW,
<> please find it at Server Management -> To Do List -> Connect to Internet.
<>
<> If you stick to change domain name and server name, after that, you need
to
<> do the following tasks:
<>
<> Step1: Before joining the client workstations to newSBSdomain, create a
<> local profile, and then copy the old domain profile to a local profile.
The
<> steps:
<>
<> 1). Logon locally with a Administrator account on the workstation.
<> 2). Click Start>Control Panel>System>Advanced>User Profiles>Settings.
<> 3). Highlight the network profile for the user. For example, NormH.
<> 4). Select Copy To and direct the profile to copy to the local hard
disk.
<> For example, C:\Temp. Click OK>OK.
<> 5). From the Control Panel, launch Administrative Tools>Computer
<> Management.
<> 6). Select System Tools>Local Users and Groups.
<> 7). Select Users.
<> 8). Right-click in the right-pane and select New User to add a user
named
<> "Foo."
<> 9). Double-click the user object and select the Profile tab to view the
<> properties for "Foo."
<> 10). In the Profile path field, point to the exact profile you copied to
<> C:\Temp in Step 4. Click OK.
<> 11). Close all open applications, re-start the Windows XP Pro machine.
<>
<> Step2: Join back the client workstation to workgroup mode and re-join it
to
<> the new domain with conncetcomputer wizard and map the profile to users
in
<> new domain. The detail steps:
<>
<> 1). Logon the client with Administrator permissions and join it to
<> "Workgroup", and reboot the computer.
<>
<> Right click My Computer to open its properties page, click Computer Name
<> tab, click Change button to re-join the computer to Workgroup.
<>
<> 2). Setup the client by running Setup Client Computer wizard to setup
<> computer account and assign related user account to the computer.
<>
<> 3). Logon the computer with Administrator permissions and join it to
domain
<> by runninghttp://servername/connectcomputer. And you can assign a domain
<> account to ??Users assigned to this computer??, and then choose the
<> existing local user profile in the ??Current User Settings??. By Default,
<> the value for ??Current User Settings?? is ??None??.
<>
<> Note:??The wizard will allow you to map domain user accounts to local
<> profiles on the machine thus preserving your profiles: ??Assign Users to
<> this Computes and Migrate their Profiles??.
<>
<> Note: Please ensure you have added theSBSSite (http://FQDN/*) in trusted
<> site in IE of the laptop.
<>
<> Step3: In addition, if you use this method to map your domain account
<> profile to the existing local computer account when using the
<> Connectcomputer wizard, the resulting domain account will not have the
<> Outlook Exchange profile configured automatically, you will need to
create
<> the Outlook profile to connect to yourSBSExchange server.
<>
<> During server setup, a default .prf file named SBSDefault.prf is copied
<> from CD to \\%sbsserver\clients\Setup. The setup then updates two
<> instances of %SBSServer% with the name of the server. During client
<> configuration (ConnectComputer,) the file is copied to the client folder
<> 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Clients' and
<> %FaxTransport% is replaced with either MSFax XP (for Windows XP) or
<> SHAREDFAX XP (for Windows 2000).
<>
<> The easiest way to create theSBS2K3 Outlook profile is to remove all the
<> Outlook Profile, make sure Outlook is closed, and then locate to the
client
<> computer folder 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
<> Server\Clients' (or '\\SBS2003Server\clients\Setup' if the folder is not
<> created on the client computer,) double click sbsdefault.prf, this will
<> automatically create the outlook profile with the correct settings (which
<> also include the FAX Transport) for the corresponding domain user.
<>
<> Step 4: After you join the workstation to domain, the mapped printers,
<> paths to network shares you manually created can not be available now,
you
<> have to manually modify them. There is no way to change them
automatically.
