WayneTaylor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx says...
I have a client who would like the ability to have a second Exchange Server
for failure reasons.
I read through your post and propose to them what we use for several
clients:
1) The domain name service provider also provides POP accounts, create
one for each person on the SBS server and ensure that they have the same
email address.
2) Setup Exchange to use the POP3 connector and set it to 1 hour
polling. Map the pop3 accounts to the proper SBS user account.
3) Make your SBS box the higher priority MX
4) Make their (ISP) the lower priority MX
When your server is down, the ISP will get all email and hold it, as
soon as your box comes back online it will grab the email being held at
the ISP.
Since you're doing nightly backups of the server and keeping several
sets (you are, right?) you can recover from a failure quickly.
