Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the detailed info, much appreciated.

If it's the external I'd just uninstall it, shutdown, install the new.
Nice way:
install the MS Loopback Adapter.
uninstall the real NIC, but don't shutdown.
configure loopback to same IP as real.
shutdown, remove original, install new.
install new drivers.
remove loopback.
configure real to original IP.
restart
OHH, and don't forget to check your binding order.
When you throw in the loopback you want it at the top of the list.
The new NIC goes at the top when you change from the loopback.
and finally, check Device Manager to be sure there's no "ghost" Nics left --
The ghost is easily removed, but the slow restart is a cow.
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
start devmgmt.msc
I dunno how may times I've copy pasted that two lines, but I was onsite
a few days ago with no internet access and do you reckon I could
actually remember it? (the short answer is no, had to call a friend).
It's now on my USB key.
And you also have to tell devmgmt to 'show hidden devices' (that I
remembered)

Hi all,
I will be installing a Dell PE 2900, SBS Prem, ISA, 2 NICs at my client's
office in a few days time. Aware of the issues some of you have had with
Broadcom NICs, I have expressed my concerns to Dell (who funnily enough
sold me this server with a massive discount - about £900.00) regarding the
TOE issue. I've been assured that disbaling TOE and installing the
'urgent' driver update will resolve any ISA related issues, which I've
done (I built the server at home and delivered it to site awaiting a good
time to install). As a precaution, Dell are sending me an Intel twin port
NIC in case I encounter difficulties. As such, my question is this - if I
need to install the new double NIC and disable the onboard Broadcoms, what
is the best way of going about this ? I remember reading some old threads
about installing loopback adapters and transferring iP's etc but can't
find them. Any help on this appreciated guys. TIA.
Regards Colin.
