Re: Companyweb will not display for one client.

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

When I tried this I had a problem. I attached a router but the server did
not create a lan for the client computers.

Here is what I think happened. When I set up the server initially I had the
incoming internet cable going into the slan receptacle. The server
configured itself thinking that the slan card was the incoming network card.
i also think that finding no outgoing slan connection, setup disregarded it.
As a result when I physically reconfigured it, there was no response and the
new computers did not get IPs from the server and they were locked out of the
network, and the internet until i went back to the original configuration.

Am I totally offbase? If not, how do I get the server to re-run setup to
include the second outgoing internet connection.

In addition, the company web has become inaccessible for more pcs than the
initial one.

You have given you domain a public name and not the internal .local which is
the default. That by itself could create conflicts but I don't think it's
the problem in your case. I would change the DHCP and use the one on the
SBS box instead the one on the router.

Since all the clients are connected to the router, you have just one NIC on
the server so all of the clients (both domain members and non-domain
members) are on the same subnet and they will get IP addresses from the
server without a problem.

Make that change and see if that solves the issue

I tried to ping companyweb but got nothing. I did Ipconfig from the client

Hello all,

Our office just installed a server running sbs2003 r2. The install
seemed
to go fine except one client cannot see the company web.

the server and clients are plugged into the router directly because
there
are people in the office who share the internet but not the server. So
the
IPs for the clients are from the router. The only difference I can see
so
far is that the computer that is not able to see the companyweb has
norton/symantec systemworks installed and running.

Does anybody have anythoughts on why only one client would have this
problem?
