Solved!
Thought I needed to update everyone on this issue, even though it was
resolved a few weeks ago.
After further checking, I also saw that Windows Updates would not work.
I tried the "Windows updates fix" and it resolved all the issues:
1. Reboot in Safe Mode.
Go to the Services Control Panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, Services)
Stop "Automatic Updates" & "Background Intelligent Transfer Service"
2. Rename (or delete) the c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder.
3. Restart PC
4. Turn "Automatic Updates" & "Background Intelligent Transfer Service"
back on.
PCs now work correctly.

An odd occurance happened yesterday (5/10) to two of 8 PCs on a client SBS.
network. Not sure if I should ask this here at SBS Newsgroup, or over at Win
XP newsgroup....
1 SBS-2003 server, running Service Pack 1. Dual NIC: 1 External, 1 Internal.
Exchange is running on the server for email.
All Clients running Windows XP Pro, SP2 with patches.
All clients running Norton AV with current updates, and scans are clean.
"My Documents" are redirected to SBS server.
A Shared drive is also set up on the server (and mapped to the "S: Drive"
via a login script) for document exchange. [yes, I know, but they do not like
to use Sharepoint]
Two PCs "suddenly" would get the message that they could not recoonect all
network drives. When the PC would be started, it would connect to the
serverand see the Shared Drive and My Documents. After about 1 minute, they
would report that they could no longer connect to network drives.
Email, web-browsing, access to Sharepoint worked fine.
When i checked the running services on the machines, I find that:
1. Windows Firewall is "off" on one machine, is "on" on the other.
However, I cannot access the Windows Firewall -- receive error message
that it could not start Windows Firewall/ICS on BOTH machines
2. The following Services were stopped:
Computer Browser
DHCP Client
DNS Client.
If I manually start these services (even though they are set to
"Automatic") the PC can access the shared network drive again.
Temporary workaround to get client working:
--Change properties on these3services to restart service if stopped.
--If Network Sare not connected message returns, client can right-click on
the icon and tell the PC to sychronize -- Network Shares become available
again.
Any idea where to focus -- I tried several things, but client wanted to use
their PC.
Oh yeah, I can no longer remotely connect to the 2 PCs anymore - another
symptom, that makes on-site troubleshooting the only option.
