RE: error using FTP on client site

Hello Mohsien,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

From your description, I know that the clients cannot visit the ftp and get
the message: "... he have no access to this folder...." and "The connection
with the server was reset" If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let
me know.

Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:

1. Is the FTP site on the Internet or on the SBS server? If you visit the
internet FTP, does this issue occur with all external FTP site or one
specific FTP site?
2. Do all users or some specific user have this problem?
3. Is there a hardware firewall device located in front of the SBS server?

Please take the following steps to see if the problem can be resolved:

Step 1: Please install security update 913446 (security bulletin MS06-007).

More information, please refer to:

Installing security update MS05-019 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
may cause
network connectivity between clients and servers to fail
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898060/>

Step 2: Please rerun the CIECW wizard to configure the network settings.

Step 3: Use Internet Explorer as FTP client. Test the FTP access in the
following two scenarios:

1. Check 'Enable folder view for FTP site' option; uncheck 'Use Passive
FTP' option (The IE will work in Active mode FTP)
2. Uncheck 'Enable folder view for FTP site' option; check 'Use Passive
FTP' option (The IE will work in Passive mode FTP)

Step 4: Please also refer to the following article to use FTP command-line
to access this FTP site, what's the result?

Ftp

us/ftp.mspx?mfr=true

Step 5: If the problem persists, you may open regedit program. Navigate to
the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\

Change the value MaxUserPort to 40000. Reboot the server to see what the
result is.

Step 6: Please try the instructions in the following KB article:
900926 Recommended TCP/IP settings for WAN links with a MTU size of less
than 576
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;900926

If the problem persists, please help me collect the screen shot of the
error message visiting FTP.

Please send the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
