Re: RWW or VPN issues with remote access

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Are you by any chance talking about AllMeds? And I dare to differ that
UltraVNC has a better security than RWW.

We have SBS 2003 premium with ISA 04 in a standard 2 NIC configuration.
There
are no hardware firewall appliances and presently we use RWW for all
remote
access without a hitch.
Recently, we've decided to upgrade our medical office to electronic
medical
records and the vendor insists we install a hardware appliance for their
VPN
access and the will use UltraVNC. They need an FTP and small fax server on
a
PC along with a network printer with an IP address. I asked if they could
use
RWW and they said that their software will be tranferring data one way
from
our system to theirs on an as needed basis which is determined by amount
of
faxes and scans done locally and RWW won't allow this.
I know little about VPN or UltraVNC but when I asked them about security,
they said UltraVNC had better security than RWW. We're also concerned
because
a similar setup not far from us had major problems, some of which were
security based.
In this case, I am curious as to how the the appliance would be setup
(where
in the current chain) and how we'd keep them only their fax/scan pc and
printer.
Any response would be most welcomed,
VG
