Re: Problem with POP access

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Why not use exchange active sync? Works with most WM5 devices. See:

I need to enable POP on a small biz server in order for a user to access
their mail from a PDA. The server has 2 NICs and has the firewall enabled.
I
turned on the POP3 service and it is enabled for the user account in
Exchange. The problem is that POP3 does not seem to work on the Internet
side
of the firewall. In testing, I set up a POP3 account (OE6) on an internal
workstation. If I point the account to the internal IP of the server, it
works fine. If I point it to the external, it comes up with an error. I
also
cannot access the POP account from the Internet.

When I check the properties of the Default POP3 Virtual Server in Exchange
System Manager, it says that it is configured to listen on all available
IP
addresses. However, when I click the arrow to choose a specific IP, it
only
shows the internal NIC (192.168.254.2) and does not give me the option to
use
the external.

I have run the Internet Connection Wizard several times with no effect. I
have checked all the settings against a server at another customer which
works fine with POP. The only difference in the 2 is that this one has 2
NICs, while the other has one and a hardware firewall.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike
