Re: pop 3 connector, mail gets lost after retreiving from ISP

Hi Martin,

I haven't a clue why you are not getting your mail but close port 110 on your firewall. This is not necessary - your firewall will allow in any inbound traffic that it know you initiated/requested. When you say 'smtp connector configured, what exactly do you mean ? Can you be a little more specific ? Have you configured POP3 and SMTP manually or have you run the CEICW ?

Regards Colin.

Hello,
I thought i posted this yesterday, but I cant find the post back :( I'm very
sorry if I do generate a double post.

Anyhow, the situation.
SBS 2003 server with pop3 connector and smtp connector configured, and yes I
know SMTP is better, but the company who hired me for this doesnt have their
domain yet, so I work with temporary popmailboxes from their internet ISP
domain.

Users can send mails, but cannot receive.
After some checking, it appears that the pop-connector gets the mail from
the provider, I see it appear at the folder: %PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server\\Networking\POP3\Incoming Mail
Then it disappears, and doesnt get to the user mailbox.

The pop3 connector is configured with the popserver from the Internet ISP,
port 110 is configured (also opened on their hardware firewall) user name and
password are set. For the rest, type of mailbox is set to User Mailbox, and
in the Exchange Mailbox I set the user for which I'm configuring this.

Finally I also set the undelivered mails to this mailbox.

My question in this is, where is the mail going? What folders, settings do I
have to check to get this to work.
I tried this with several ISP accounts to rule out the fact that it doesnt
work with some ISP.

Many thanks in front.
