Hello Andy,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you want to know the
difference between the different "connection speed" options. And you want
to know the difference when you check or uncheck the option "I'm using a
public or shared computer". And you want to change the default settings of
the options. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to
let me know.
Based on my research, we can not change the default settings of the
"connection speed" options and then "I'm using a public or shared computer"
option. They are hard-coded.
The difference between the different "connection speed" options: Which
options you select under the "connection speed" drop-down menu will affect
the RDP connection in the RWW.
The RDP performance flags options are set based on the connection speed
selected on the logon page:
Modem (28.8k):
Enable Bitmap Caching
Modem (56k):
Enable Themes and Bitmap Caching
Broadband:
Enable Show contents of windows while dragging, Menu and window animation,
Themes, and Bitmap caching
LAN (Small Business Network):
Enable Desktop background, Show contents of windows while dragging, Menu
and window animation, Themes, and Bitmap caching
The difference when you check or uncheck the option "I'm using a public or
shared computer": Your RWW will have different session timeout settings
when you check or uncheck this option.
The time out values (in minutes) are configured in the registry, at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\RemoteUserPortal\P
ublicTimeOut
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\RemoteUserPortal\T
rustedTimeOut
The PublicTimeOut is used when the user checks the box for "I'm using a
public or shared computer" on the RWW logon page. The TrustedTimeOut is
used when the user unchecks this checkbox.
By default, PublicTimeOut is 20 and TrustedTimeOut is 120.
Hope the info will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| This is in regard to the Remote Web Workplace client
|
| 1) How can I set the connection speed to a certain default? Example,
like
| "Modem-56K kps". It seems that every time I exited out of IE browser, it
| went back to the "Broadband" option.
|
| 2) The option "I'm using a public or shared computer" always checked, how
| can I make it to be unchecked by default? Also, what is the different
| between leaving it checked of unchecked?
|
| 3) In the connection speed section, there is an option for "Small
Business
| Network". I have no idea what this mean. Could someone please advise?
