Re: network slows down after SP2 install

Robert:

As expected, the NAS device worked just fine. I installed it and all 10
local pc's could read files from it just fine, just like they could on the
server before SP2. It took just over 5 minutes to copy 43.7MB in 186 files
from the server to the NAS device. Copying the same directory of files took
5 seconds to a new directory on the server. On the NAS device, directory to
directory was 10 seconds. So the problem is getting data in/out of the
server.

We are back to my original question. What did SP2 change on the server that
would severely slow down network traffic between the server and the pc's on
the network when reading/writing files? Is there some authentication
process that validates each data packet transmitted between server and pc
that was turned on that kills performance? There are no physical errors
reported on any of the devices and no errors in any of the logs. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for updating.

Please arrange to install NAS and see if the situation would be better.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
