RE: No security tab on one folder

Hello ABe,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

I am sorry for the delay for the weekend.

From your description, I know that on the Windows Storage server 2003 R2,
there is no security tab on a folder and when you try to open, you get the
error message "Access Denied". If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to
let me know.

Based on my researched on this issue, please take the following steps:

Step 1: Do you have Corel Draw Software installed? If yes, the security tab
will be missing.

If you have Corel software, the Corel Clip Art folder will give us the
problems. Locally, when you right click on the folder, there is no security
tab, just sharing and general.

It appears that Corel puts this in a different file format. Right-clicking
on the folder tells him to convert it to a regular Windows folder. After
that you can see the security tab.

Step 2: If you have software such as ServerProtect, ScanMail, OfficeScan,
ServerProtect Information Service, InterScan Virus Wall E-manager installed
on the server, the problem may occur.

To resolve this:

Uninstall the above software and then try again.

Step 3: Reboot the server to Safe Mode without Network, will the same issue
reoccur?

Step 4: Check the disk by the following command.

chkdsk G:\ /F

Step 5: Register rshx32.dll using regsvr32 .

Please run the following command:

Regsvr32 rshx32.dll

Step 6: Make sure "Simple File Sharing' is already disabled.

Step 7: If this is a Plugins folder, please restart a server and try again.

If you can see the security tab again, could you right-click the
problematic folder, select the Properties, choose the Security tab, click
the Advanced button, and choose the Owner tab. Could you take owner of that
folder?
