This is what I did and it works for me. I right click on 'Computer' ( I run
a Vista client) , 'Map Network Drive'. I type: http://companyweb next to
'Folder'. Then 'Finish'. The mapped drive opens up with a list of all the
folders in SharePoint. I can drag and drop documents on my desktop
What operating systems are you using to access companyweb? I don't think
you can do that from the server but using Vista works and based on an
article I found here it should workd with XP SP2 too (

doesn't work for me either. I can open Windows Explorer and type
http://companyweb and get the site up and can click on the "General
Documents". But if I click on "explorer view" (in the left pane) I get a
"page cannot be displayed" error. If I open Windows Explorer focusing on
the data drive and the click on Tools/Map a network drive and I type
http://companyweb or http://companyweb/general documents I get the error
"drive could not be mapped because no network was found".

Jeff,
Instead of clicking the Browse button next to 'Folder', just type:
http://companyweb
That should do it

I'm not able to map a drive to my SharePoint site when I try to do that.
The OK button is grayed out when I select the site and will not allow me
to map it. Here is what I'm doing:
In Windows Explorer I choose Tools/Map Network Drive
Choose a new letter to use
Click the Browse button next to Folder and select my SharePoint domain
name
That is where the OK button is grayed and won't allow me to map the
site.
Is there another way of doing what you suggest?
Thanks
Jeff

Map a network drive to http://companyweb. When Explorer opens up, drag
and drop the folders/files on the drive

Hi All,
I'm not a sharepoint guy (at least not beyond the basics) and I'm
hoping someone can help me out here.
We inherited a client with a lower end SBS2003R2 Premium. They decided
to upload all their documents to the sharepoint site rather than using
a normal shared folder for the company. They ran out of disk space on
their OS partition. We did move the sharepoint to the data partition
which took care of the immediate problem but we would like to pull all
files (preferably with the dir structure of subfolders as is) into a
normal folder on the data drive.
Is there a quick way to accomplish that?
Thanks,
