Thanks for the reply Mark.

And if I don't have a support call to burn on the issue? Back to square 1 I
suppose.

It looks like the only way out of this issue is to purchase a full Premium
Edition and go from there. It's cheaper to purchase the full version than pay
the support call.

Bryan,
I have had a bad ISA install like yours and I would urge you to contact
MS and burn a support call. When mine happened it was SO convoluted that no
google or stroke of luck would have gotten me through it. Try to get is
escalated to an American and it should be resolved pretty quickly (but not
easily!). From my experience, an ISA install should go smoothly, if it
doesn't - it is generally ugly!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening where ever you might find yourself on our
little orb floating around the sun.

Short of sacrificial virgin hamsters I have now tried everything,
including
2 days research online, REG hacks, folder permission changes etc etc.

Here is the scenario: OEM SBS 2K3 R2 Standard HP branded Installation
disks
Standard goes in no problems with the usual suspects in the event logs,
DHCP
on an DC etc etc.

R2 Technologies disk also installs without an issue.

Start the install of ISA 2004, the progress bar gets to around 25%, the
install stops with the following pop up error. “The wizard cannot install
ISA
Server 2004. Try to install it again by restarting the wizard. If the
problem
persists, see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/support for
additional help and support”

And so the games began: Machine logs empty, well nothing that would raise
an
eyebrow anyway, Probably the closest thing to an entry would be an
information entry from Microsoft ISA Server Store, with an ID 21161. The
description says something about the local comp might not have the
necessary
reg info or message DLL files to display messages from a remote comp. I
couldn’t find any info about the event and because it’s just an
information
type entry I have discounted it.

The ISAWRAP.log has the following entries:

The ISAFWSV.log has the following entries:
