Domain Hosting for SBS Mail

Can anyone give some views? Currently we have our mail hosted via our
domain name with an ISP & then POP3 it from them. Main problem is the lack
of spam filtering on Exchange with pop3 connector; I am also concerned that
having domain with ISP reduces flexibility (isp's can be unreliable & need
to be changed frequently in the UK!!)
Am I correct in thinking that I could have my doomain hosted with a hosting
company which provides DNS & MX record access & then just forward web
requests to my webspace (which is hosted under another domain name) and also
set the MX records to forward mail? If so, should I just forward mail direct
to our current IP address or has anyone experience of dnsmadeeasy.com? They
have a mail forwarding facility which appears to work by pointing the MX
records at their mail servers and then they relay it to my mail server on a
port we specify.
This seems a good way of getting smtp mail & having flexibility, but how
reliable is it & what port should be used for security?
Thanks
