RE: DFS Problems

Hello,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

I am sorry for the delay due to the weekend.

From your description, I know that when you tried to setup a second target
to do a replication, you get the following error:

"The following error occurred while contacting \\server002\dfs". Do you
want to add it anyway? No more connections can be made to this remote
computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the
computer can accept.

If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:

1. What's the version of your SBS? If you are using the SBS 2003 R2, the
user CALs give you the right to access the Windows 2003 server in the SBS
2003 R2 network. So that's not the cause of the problem. Also, the SBS CAL
allows you to visit file server with the current CALS. This is not related
to CALs

2. Do you visit the server002 via VPN?

3. Do you configure DFS on SBS server?

Please take the following steps to narrow down this issue:

1. Can you ping the server002?
2. Can you visit share folder on server002with your current credential?

For more information, please refer to:

272279 How to Troubleshoot the File Replication Service and the Distributed
File System.

Please also gather the MPS Report on the SBS for further research:

1) Download MPS Report Tool from the following URL:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE

2) Launch the downloaded .EXE file; it will launch the MPS Report Tool.
Please wait several minutes until it has finished.
3) On your system, a CAB file will be generated for your convenience in the
%systemroot%\MPSReports\Setup\<Report Type>\Cab directory called
%COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB
4) Please send the CAB file to me. My email address is
v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject: 39334724-DFS Problems.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
