RE: COM+ Event System error cases hangs after automatic download of up

Hi Bjr,

Thanks for posting here.

From the description, I understand the issue is that you get a COM+ Event
System error and some services cannot start.If I am off base, please don't
hesitate to let me know.

Let us refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Test the program in Safe Mode.
===========
1. Restart the computer.
2. When the computer completes the Power On Self-Test (POST), hold down the
F8 key until you see the Windows Startup menu.
3. On the Windows Startup menu, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter.
4. The display effects are limited in Windows Safe Mode. However this is
just a temporary situation for our troubleshooting process.
5. Please try to reproduce this issue in Safe Mode. Does this issue occur
in Safe Mode?

If the issue occurs in Safe Mode, we may need to completely reinstall this
program including its associated folders, registry keys as well as Windows
Installer files in the future. If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode,
please go on to the next steps.

Step 2: Remove Norton Go Back 4.0.
===========
Based on the recent feedback, the issue can be caused by Norton Go Back
4.0. If there is Norton installed on the computer. Please let me know if
Norton Go Back 4.0 is installed (it may comes with Norton System Works
2005). If so, I suggest we temporarily disconnect from Internet and remove
Norton Go Back 4.0

Setp 3: rebuild COM+

1. Stop any anti-virus software you have running
2. Attempt to stop any dllhost.exe processes running in Task Manager
3. Open up the registry editor: Start -> Run -> and type in ?regedit?
without quotes
4. Backup and then delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\COM3
5. Boot to Recovery console and rename clbcatq.dll to ~clbcatq.dll. Be
sure to use the tilde.
6. After you?ve deleted that key open up the Control Panel -> Add/Remove
Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components
7. When the Add/Remove Windows components wizard starts, do not make any
changes but go ahead and click next and continue with clicking next until
the wizard completes the installation.
8. If you get an errors during installation please note these errors, and
review the event logs for any errors and notify me of them
9. If installation completes without errors then try to open up component
services again and let me know if it works now.
10.Rebooted the server

Step 4:

1.START > RUN > SECPOL.MSC > DEFAULT DOMAIN POLICIES > LOCAL POLICIES >
USER RIGHT ASSIGNMENT > IMPERSONATE A CLIENT AFTER AUTHENTICATION.add
ADMINISTRATOR, SERVICE, SYSTEM and ASPNET

2.Reboot server.

Step 5:

Check if the c:\windows\system32\stdole2.tlb file exist,If not exist,Please
copy it from another normal server to c:\windows\system32
