RE: modem and network

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi robert, thanks for answering back
actuly, i connect to the modem before opening the IE, and i always choose:
never dial connection.
i noticed that when i open a website, only the network card starts blinking,
and the modem doesn't, it's like the computer is only trying to retreive the
internet through the network card only and not through the modem.
the only way to make the internet work is by disabling the network card.
is that a problem in DNS? i donno ..
i can't put internet on the server now, i'm waiting for the DSL, it will be
installed after 3 weeks .. but for now i want the modem on this computer to
work

please advice me.

thanks in advance

Hi Sensay,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

From your description, I know that your client use Modem to connect to
Internet and user NIC connect to LAN. Only if he disables NIC collection,
he can connect to Internet. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let
me know.

Please let me show the following to make the situation more clearly:

1. When you put in a URL in IE browser and press Enter, will the Modem dial
automatically?
2. What's the error in IE browser?

Please try the following:

1. Open Internet Explore.
2. Click Tools'Internet Options'Connections.
3. Click your Modem connection, click Set default.
4. Click Always dial my default connection.
5. Click OK.
6. Check if the problem is resolved.

In addition, I suggest you to install Modem on SBS server to provide
Internet Access for all users.

For more information, please refer to:

2003

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
