RE: Outlook 2003 command

Hi Sam,

Thanks for posting here.

From the description, I understand the issue is that outlook have not been
automatically installed. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me
know.

Let us refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

I.I would suggest totally uninstalling the previous Office 2003

II.Take the computer to Workgroup status. Remove the computer name frome
Server Management Client Computers and add it back in. Rejoin the computer
with Http://servername/connectcomputer, logging in as Administrator and add
the Users who will use the computer and migrate the primary users profile.
When the computer reboots th second time on completion of the Wizard, Setup
will Install Outlook from Server.

III.If issue persists,Please check the logon script and assign client
application.

I would like to confirm that the "Client Setup program" you mentioned is
the SBS 2003 logon script (located at: C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\<Your
Domain''s FQDN>\scripts\SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat) which runs to deploy
applications to the workstations. If I misunderstood your concern, please
let me know.

First, I suggest that you check the integrity of the SBS 2K3 Logon script
file:

1. Locate the file SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat on the SBS server, the
''%systemroot%\sysvol\sysvol\(yourdomain name)\scripts'' folder.

2. Right click SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat and choose Edit. The line should be:
\\servername\Clients\Setup\setup.exe /s SBSServername.

3. If it''s not, change it, save the file, and then log off and back on to
a workstation.

Note: If you have previously customized the logon script, you may or may
not need or want those customizations any longer. The above line is all
that is required in a default SBS 2K3 installation.

4.browse to the "\\(SBS server name)\NETLOGON" share folder and double
click to run ''SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat''. What's the result?

5.Here I would suggest you check if you have assigned applications to the
client computers. If no applications are assigned to the clients or if the
applications has been deployed to the clients, the installation will surely
not start:

a. Go to Server Management\Standard Management\Client Computers.

b. Click on the "Setup Client Applications" link, click Next and check if
there are applications.

c. If the applications you want to deploy are not there, you can create one
and specify the setup executable file for it. Please note that you should
first make sure the applications''s installation folder are shared and
Everyone has the Read an Execute permissions.

d. Click the "Assign Applications to Client Computers" link, go through the
wizard and assign the applications to the client computers.

e. Ask the users to log off and log on.

Iv.Please navigate to \\SBSServer_name\ClientApps\outlook2003. Then, please
click Setup to install the Outlook directly. What's the result?

Actually if the applications you assigned to the client computers have been
installed, the applications will not be installed again and therefore the
Application Launcher will not run everytime you log on the client computers.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information for
analysis:

1. Go to the following folder and send me the config.dat file.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\ClientSetup\Clients\Setup

2. Go to the following folder and send me the apps.dat file.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\ClientSetup\Clients\response\<ClientName>

3. Go to the following folder, rename the SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat file to
SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.old and send it to me:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSVOL\sysvol\<DomainName.Local>\scripts

I appreciate your time. I am happy to be of assistance and look forward to
your reply.

Have a nice day!
