So when you connect to the SBS over VPN, you can't print to the HP printer
that's attached to the remote client PC? In addition to the possible driver
issue pointed out by ryne, see this KB. HP for some unknown reason uses a
"dot" port type instead of "usb," so you can't print to the locally attached
HP printer by default.

Hello, I'm not quite sure if you can help me but I am looking for
information regarding VPN and trouble accessing a local USB printer.
I am using CheckPoint to connect to our business server and need to
print certain documents. I have a HP 3380 installed and plugged in
through the USB port. Originally I had an older HP model that
connected through the parallel port. Ever since the upgrade, I have
been unable to print from my VPN. The server is running Win2k3 Server
and patched. There has been no upgrade or update done to it during
the my switch from parallel port printer to USB. Please help or if
you know some place that can give me some more information on VPN and
printing issues it would greatly be appreciated.
Yes, the issue is with remote client's printer. I have yet to speak
with the administrators on having them install the printer drivers
onto their server. Will try that first before trying the KB. Thanks
for the info so far. Much appreciated.
