If you insist on using POP3 for that many users instead of converting to SMTP I highly recommend that you convert to PopBeamer for $179 which will do a much better job than the MS connector which was never designed for that kind of load on a permanent basis.

I get two messages per account in the Event Viewer:.
1. Source: POP3 Connector Category: Download
Event ID: 1035 Type: Error
A error occured in connection to the <ISP mail server address> POP3 server for usser <username>. Ther error is 11004. The server may be down for maintenance or your server is not connected to the Internet
I get this message for each of the 8 accounts
2. Source: POP3 Connector Category: Download
Event ID: 1023 Type: Error
The downloading process for mailbox <username> [ISP mail server address} was ened with one or more errors.
I get this message for each of the 8 accounts that failed in (1).
I also get the follwing message when the POP3 connector begins the download process after starting:
Source: POP3 Connector Category: Download
Event ID: 1011
Download Manager will try to download messages from up to 8 mailboxes simultaneously.
More information: The SBS2003 server replaces an SBS2000 server that had no problems downloading the e-mail for the ISP's mail server. If I delete 3 or 4 accounts, the error message still occurs in 8 account.
I am not using ISA because I have a hardware firewall.
I found the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Network\POP3 Connector\DownloadThreads with a value of 1.
The description I found is "Number of current POP3 threads to nspawn for downloading mail.
Exactly what does this key do?
Server Configuration from performance report:

"Joseph Wilson" <josewilson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:uTkOjTMmHHA.4868@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI have SBS 2003 using POP3 Connector. My problem is that have 24 users, only 16 of them get their e-mails. On the other 8 it fails to connect to the ISP stating the server is no available.
Has anyone else had this problem?
