I'd upgrade the database afterwards.. or do a custom install but if you ran that wizard after install it will make a blue check of death.

Uninstall wsus 3
Reinstall r2/wsus 2
reinstall wsus 3 OVER THE TOP hitting cancel at then end of the install before it launches the setup wizard.

described as "I get an error that says "Windows SBS Update Services is
not running…," and I see a blue check instead of a green check in
Update Services.".

But I've worked through the list of items which cuase the "blue check"
(I would have caused it a blue shield) but I still get the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or better, does anyone have a
solution?
