Re: 32 Bit Member Servers and 64 Bit SBS

Still, even now there are a few "variances". I don't think I'd go as far as
say they were"incompatabiliities". Constraints or restrictions perhaps.
Currently there are sporadic issues with 64 bit print drivers for one. There
are even a few MS tools that aren't there yet. Group Policy Management
Console for one, although that will be obsolete with Longhorn, oops,
"Windows Server 2008", and to a degree already has with the Vista version.
( Of course the Vista version doesn't run on XP or 2003 SP1) .... Anyway,
likely they'll always be some differences, but they'll "play together
nicely", you can be sure of that. <g>

No, I'll go further than that. There is no compatibility issue that
would prevent a 32-bit server on a 64-bit network today, and I see no
indication that anything in Longhorn will create one. You can even
mix 32-bit and 64-bit DCs, let alone a simple member server.

Hi Brandon,

As there is no currently available 64 bit SBS product, speculating on
compatibility between future (64 bit) SBS products and today's 32 bit
server products (and presumably future 32 bit server products) is
just that; speculation.

Like 'kj' mentioned in your earlier thread - I have heard nothing to
indicate that 32 bit member severs will be incompatible with future
SBS releases. Today's 64 and 32 bit Windows server operating
systems work together; I'd expect that trend to continue as the SBS
landscape continues to evolve.

Cheers,

Jason

The next edition of SBS will only be 64 bit. Can someone tell me
if 32 bit member servers are compatible with 64 bit SBS?
