Re: Outlook2003 e-mail accounts order

Hi Arjan,

Personally, I'd use Exchange exclusively - in the end there really isn't a good reason to use the pop account.

But to answer your question:

The behavior is caused by the SBS logon script. By default, the SBS logon script will call Application Launcher
(Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\ClientSetup\Clients\Setup\applnch.exe). This will adjust the
Outlook transport order to set Exchange as the default type, and the default email account will be configured to use the exchange account in Outlook 2003. This is by design.

You can add a registry key to change the behaviour. After adding the registry key, the system will not set the Outlook Transport Order again, and if the POP3 mail account as the default account, it will remain the default.

On the workstation:

Create the following registry key:

Location: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\ClientSetup
Name: NoTransportOrder
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 1

Hello my name is Arjan,

I have configured pop3 e-mail and exchange account in Outlook2003.
I changed the pop3 e-mail account as default and there under exchange account.
So that I'll send and recieve to the remote pop3 server on the internet
bypassing exchange. (so pop3 e-mail acount is the firt up in the list)
This works ok but when I log in the next time the exchange account in
outlook2003 is set as default. So I have to change the pop3 e-mail account to
default by hand everytime.
How can I make the pop3 e-mail account default in Outlook2003 to stay?
Hope you'll have an answer for me.
Kind regards,
Arjan
