Re: Workstation Locked out!

I don't have any bright ideas about this - I'm with Costas as I've also
never seen an instance where you couldn't log in locally. I'd try a few
other things - connect to the wired network and reboot the PC a couple of
times. Go to the Server Mgmt. Console on the SBS and see if the PC shows up
under Client Computers. If so, r-click -> Manage. In the Computer
Management console, add a user (r-click Users -> Add). R-click the user ->
Properties and add to Administrators. I don't know of any reason why you'd
be able do to this from the SBS if the workstation won't let you log in with
the domain Administrator account, but it's worth a shot.

Have you tried to log in with the local Administrator account using a blank
password? I suppose there's a slim chance that the local admin password is
blank depending on the original OS installation. Some OEM setup routines
may default to a blank Admin password depending on the OEM.

When you go to the ctrl+alt+del login screen on the workstation and click
the Options button, do you get an option to log into the domain, or is local
login the only choice?

Exactly none of the mentioned work. As I explained to Costas, I even
tried
to pull out the wireless nic and put in a different one. Tried Safe mode
with both users and both local and domain.

Do I have to reload windows? Ugh! Old system so I am sure finding
drivers
is going to be a real treat!

You need to enable the wired NIC - connectcomputer probably won't work
over
wireless.

I recently deployed a SBS standard edition network. I'm happy to say
that
all is well except one last piece.

I tried to connect an old XP pro box to the network using the connect
computer wizard. It first stated that I needed to disable a network
card
because it does not work with 2 enabled. I disabled the wired card and
left
the wireless enabled. (probably a stupid move) The connection wizard
began
and seemed to run ok until it rebooted. Now I cannot login. It will
not
accept the local or admin user and keeps telling me that it is not
connected
to the network. I also cannot login to the local computer.

So if I cannot get into the system how can I re-configure the NIC's or
more
importantly how can I continue with the connect computer installation??

Thanks in advance for any help!
