In that case, I'd try taking ownership first (change owner to
Administrator). Then you should be able to do whatever you want with
permissions. I'd leave Administrator with Full Control, and you don't have
to change the ownership to the user unless you can think of a reason to do
so.

Hi Mike - logged in with Admin rights, in Windows Explorer, correctly set
the permissions on the top-level folder and click Apply. Click Advanced,
check the box to replace permissions on child objects, and OK all the way
out.
If you have to change the owner of the objects, while in Advanced, click
on the Owner tab and make the change there. Note the check box at the
bottom of that page to replace the owner on everything else (can't
remember the exact wording but you should find it OK).

Hi all,
I created a new user and moved folders and files from an old user to the
new user's folder. Old users account has been deleted. New user cannot
access most, but not all, the folders and files in their folder. Is
there a way to globally change permissions so new user can have access
to all of the copied files and folders?
FYI--when logged in as new user, doing a properties on some of the
folders that cannot be accessed, shows no permissions tab.

I've tried this, but I get an access denied message when I try to apply
the permission changes to the folder, even though I am logged in as admin.
