Well- I installed Certificate Services and used the snap in to import
to the trusted root.
The I did use the wizards to publish almost everyting. By default it
does enable FBA, but in the ssl setup, it is advised to let ISA
handle the authentication on https to https.
I published all necessary ports in different rules- wish I did have
choice not to use ISA- or just go http:80
But I wll check all the exchange services again.
Not sure what happens to SBS if you manually do all that. You really need to
use all its wizards - seriously, I botched up many of my early attempts
because I tried to set up SBS as I would the enterprise versions.
Thansk for the heads up on the PTR- will get the Service request in to
correct. Would be replication issue -
Thanks again

Good day Lanwench. Answers on your questions.
1. Yes the AD domain is Local.company .com
2. My server runs on two Gb network cards, and ISA is installed. The
Public Ip is bound on the External interface, with Natting and SSL
certs published on the web and ISA (Trusted Root). The cert is
mail.soundmining.co.za- as the MX is registered, and I used W2k3 CA
to issue the cert.
Did you install Certificate Services, or did you use the CEICW? In
SBS you need to do pretty much everything with its wizards...
3. No intention to host the public website to be honest. So the www
is academic realy. Will point to ISP hosting when we get to that-
but thanks.
Cool, just thought I'd mention it.
4.ISA- I published the MailWeb server using the ISA wizard. But
trying to make OWA use form base authentication leave me not being
able to access the OWA website at all.
I don't use ISA, but FBA should've been enabled by default. What
exactly did you do? (see "wizards" comment above....)
Then I can also not connect to the mail server using Outlook 2003
and trying to set up POP or MAPI- it cannot find server.
POP3 uses TCP 110 - RPC over HTTP uses 443. Did you publish those?
I see some DNS problems - doesn't look like you have an A record for
mail.soundmining.co.za (you need one), and your public IP does not
seem to have a reverse-lookup/PTR (you should ask your ISP to
correct that).

Appreciate the help...

I suspect that on installation of SBS2003R2 that the default FQDN
is causing all my RPC and HTTPS issues.
Naming my Server DC01 and specifying the domain name of
company.com, created a FQDN of servername.local.company.com
It wouldn't do that, unless you'd named the AD domain
local.company.com
My MX points to mail.company.com on a public IP
.....which is the public IP on your firewall/router, and you've
forwarded 25, 443,etc., to the LAN IP of the SBS box?
and so does my www A
record.
You really don't want to host your company's public website on SBS,
so I'd reconsider that las tbit.
Trying to now publish my OWA and RPC is turning out to be a
nightmare,
What exactly do you mean? And are you using ISA?
and joning workstations to the domain by using
http:/servername/connectcomputer is giving me the error of
Userlist cannot be found.
Post an unedited ipconfig /all from your server & from a
workstation, clearly labeling which is which...
Do I have to reinstall to correct the FQDN. The post of Outlook
via Internet (4/18/2007) answered by Dave Nickason make me
suspect that I have a DNS issue as well?
Your internal FQDN is unlikely to be the problem. I'd also suggest
posting your public domain name here as well.
