Hi
I am setting up some new laptops for some remote staff, and I want thgem
to connect via a fixed IP Address.
When setting this up in SBS2003, I am asked for a MAC address.
If I type IPCONFIG/all I see that I have a MAC address for the LAN card in
the laptop and one for the wireless card. Which one do I use please
I'm not familiar with what you are doing, so I'm assuming that the MAC
address its asking for is the MAC address of the client, i.e. the laptops.
In this case I would have thought you would need to enter the MAC address of
the adapter they would be using to connect. Now presumably you don't know
whether they will be connecting (locally to them) using a wireless
connection or a fixed line connection? At home my laptop connects wirelessly
but my desktop uses a wired ethernet connection. A friend of mine always
uses a fired ethernet connection even with his laptop. Also, and I can't
answer this, but if they are connecting via a router then is it the MAC
address of that router that you require?
Sorry, more questions than answers. Where are you being asked for a MAC
address?
