As you stated, Cougar is a ways off and not all the system requirements have
been set yet. You are correct that because of Exchange 2007 it will
require a true 64 bit processor (or two) Obviously RAID 5 with onboard
memory and fast drives will improve performance.
Most of the SBS MVPs have moved away from Tape Drives to using USB drives
for backup. Even if you buy 10 (Mon-Fri X 2 weeks) its cheaper than most
tape drives and same quantity of tapes. I can get 160GB drives for under
100.00 at Sams, and hard drives are much more reliable than tape
Other than that I can't say much because of Non-Disclosure Agreements.

Hello all
I am using SBS 2003 R2 Prem now on our Dell PE2600 and life is good..
We kept SA on SBS since we first bought this with SBS 2000, and plan to
keep the SA up.
I realize the next version of SBS is 64bit so I will need a new server,
and we will problaby more up fairly quickly.
Maybe this is too early to talk about, SBS "Cougar" is a ways off but, in
our small business, budgeting is not.
Any thoughts on what we are going to need?
