Re: Acive FTP

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi Roland,

Thanks for updating.

I am not sure about the following:

1. FTP server is on the Internet, the ftp client is Windows XP with
OfficeNet software. Is that right?

2. You want the Windows XP with OfficeNet visit FTP with active mode. Is
that right?

Please change the IE to work in Active mode FTP and see if this helps.

Please also try to disable Receive Side Scaling on SBS server, my issues
such as companyweb is resolved by doing so.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)

Hi Robert,
<
<Thank you for answer.
<About yous questions:
<1) The OfficeNet is on a Windows XP client. OfficeNet use port 20 and
21 for communication with the bank. The network is a SBS2003 standard.
<2) The FTP server is not installed, because I don't use it.
<
<I think I can make it work if I can set the write flag for FTP. I did
this before on a Windows 2003 server with ISA 2006.
<
<Best regards, Roland.

<>
<> Thanks for posting in our newsgroup and also for Claus's input.
<>
<> From your description, I know you want to enable active FTP on SBS
2003
<> SP2. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
<>
<> Please let me know the following to make the situation more clearly:
<>
<> 1. Where does the OfficeNet vist FTP, from LAN or Internet?
<> 2. Is the FTP server installed on SBS 2003 server?
<>
<> By default the FTP in IIS supports both Active Mode and Passive Mode.
<> Active-mode FTP is sometimes referred to as "client-managed" because
the
<> client sends a PORT command to the server (over the control
connection)
<> that requests the server to establish a data connection from TCP Port
20 on
<> the server, to the client, using the TCP port that is specified by the
PORT
<> command. If using Active mode FTP, you just need to open TCP 21 and
20
<> port.
<>
<> Please take the following steps to see if the problem can be resoved:
<>
<> Step 1: I strongly recommend you to rerun the CEICW. This Wizard helps
us
<> to publish FTP correctly. To do this:
<> 1. Open Server Management and then click Internet and E-mail.
<> 2. Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.
<> 3. Do the steps to configure network.
<> 4. On the Firewall page, check Enable firewall and click Next.
<> 5. On the Services Configuration page, make sure FTP is selected.
<> 6. Do the following steps according to the instruction.

<> For more information, please refer to:
<> 825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business
Server
<> 2003
<> http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
<>
<> Step 2: Please test the FTP in Active Mode:
<>
<> Open Internet Explorer, click 'Tools'->'Internet Options'. In
'Advanced'
<> tab, Check 'Enable folder view for FTP site' option; uncheck 'Use
Passive
<> FTP' option (The IE will work in Active mode FTP), then try the FTP
access.

<> For more information, please refer to:
<>
<> 309816 How To Configure Internet Explorer to Use Both the FTP PORT Mode

<>
<> Step 3: Please try to disable Receive Side Scaling on SBS server to see
if
<> the problem can be resolved. You can find the detail steps in the
following
<> KB:
<>
<> You cannot host TCP connections when Receive Side Scaling is enabled
