Re: XP x64 Client won't connect to domain with ISA client installe

oh, crap! I forgot to warn you about the darn nVidia POS. My apologies! I definitely know about it - we've been warning people about it for 2+ years on the 64bit.general newsgroup.

For those watching: There is a known issue with nVidia motherboards - they include a semi-hardware firewall that inhibits 32-bit access in a 64-bit OS. The ONLY solution is to install the nvidia software if it isn't already installed, and then un-install it. This disables it. Even if you never installed it, it's still there until you UN-install it.

Finally!! Unistalled "NVIDIA Network connection manager" that came with the
ASUS mobo and all jumped into action.

Thanks,
Stuart

Frankly, no. I'm running XP x64 happily here without issue. And have been
for over 2 years. I've pointed to all of the various workarounds I've used
over that period for one or another issue. Disabling the RPC filter should
have gotten it. With that disabled, a standard "big server" domain join
should go through. (Make sure you're using NetBIOS to join, ie, join to
DOMAIN not domain.local). Also, make SURE your DNS is pointing to the SBS
server as primary. You can disable the ISA client and disable the Windows
Firewall on the client before attempting the join. And, of course, you DO
need to have the Client for Microsoft Networks enabled for the NIC that is
doing the joining. But all those last two things are true for any domain
join, not just x64.
