Hello Mike,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you want to send fax as an
email in OWA. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to
let me know.
Based on my research, we can send fax as email in Outlook, but we can not
send fax as email in OWA.
In Outlook, on the File menu, point to New, and then click Mail Message. In
the To line, type a fax number, using the following format: [fax:fax
number], then type the subject and message, and then click Send. The fax
email do not send to Exchange server, but send to local Fax client
software, the Fax client then send the fax to SBS Fax services, and then
Fax services send it out.
Therefore, the send fax as an email, this is a function of SBS fax
component with Microsoft Office, but not the Exchange server. When you open
OWA, you directly connect to Exchange server, so we can not send fax in OWA.
Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 enables you to send a fax as
though it were an e-mail message. Using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, you
simply open a new message and enter a fax number or fax contact instead of,
or in addition to, an e-mail address. You can select both fax and e-mail
recipients.
When you send an e-mail message as a fax and attach a document, both the
e-mail message and the attachment become part of the fax. For example, a
one-page message with a five-page Microsoft Office Word 2003 attachment
creates a six-page fax. Objects such as art or tables in a document appear
in the fax.
If you want to send fax in Outlook, please confirm that you installed Fax
client on clients properly:
1. For XP clients, we need to install Fax Service in Add/Remove Windows
Components. After that, we can browse to \\ServerName, double click the
SharedFax icon to install the Fax printer on the clients. After that, when
we go to Start->Printers and Faxes, double clicks the Share fax printer
icon and the Fax Console should open. We can also open the Fax Console from
Start->All Programs->Accessories->Communications->Fax->Fax Console.
2. Please make sure ''Fax Mail Transport'' account is in the E-mail
accounts list. Click ''Tools''-->''E-mail Accounts''. Select ''View or
change existing e-mail accounts'' and click ''Next''. ''Fax Mail
Transport'' should be listed in the account list.

| I have a client who currently sends "email-to-fax" through the fax
services
| of SBS 2003/exchange using the [fax:5551212] addressing format. Seems
to
| work great for them, but several of the users have been going offsite and
| using Outlook Web access to transact their email. Unfortunately it seems
| that they are not able to send faxes through OWA in the same manner as
they
| are used to with the full Outlook client.
|
| Is there any way of setting this up to work from OWA?
|
| Cheers,
