Correct me if I'm wrong
1. User Login to a workstation
a. no local profile and no roaming profile -> create new local profile for
user
b. no local profile with roaming profile -> get roaming profile from server
c. local profile with roaming profile -> check roaming profile integrity???
b. local profile with no roaming profile -> use local profile
2. User (with roaming profile configured) Log off
a. no roaming profile -> save on server
b. with roaming profile -> save changes on server
I had problems with login or logoff or both errors.
on
1.c. due to filename problems (too long) and i had to erase specific the
local profile and roaming profile file. Restart PC and works.
1.c. corrupted files in server .... only fix is erase roaming and reset user
quota.
2.a due to ethernet cable problem. Some how roaming profile saved to the
server got corrupted. Not sure if it is using UDP or TCP to transfer the
roaming profile; but I'm confident it is using UDP.
2.b Files can't be saved. Over quota or something is wrong with the
connection to server.

OK here's the news.....
I've recreated the share's etc and I'm getting very odd behaviour.
Originally I thought it might be this issue....
Event Type: Error
Event Source: EventSystem
Event Category: (50)
Event ID: 4614
Date: 18/04/2007
Time: 14:22:11
User: N/A
Computer: MYPC
Description:
The COM+ Event System detected an inconsistency in its internal
state. The assertion "GetLastError() == 122L" failed at line 201 of d:
\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\shared\sectools.cpp. Please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.
Removing KB929969 (IE7 patch) cleared this error in the event log.
So Event log is clear, but I have the same issue.
-----------------------------
This is the current behaviour:
* I deleted user local cached profile and roaming profile situation on
share. So it's clean.
Log in for first time and log out. Profile folder gets created and
nothing else under this (no subfolders, no files).
* Log in and out again, No change in the behaviour.
* Reboot PC
* Log in/ log out. Profile and all file folders are there to be seen!
* Log in/ Stick a file called hello.txt on the desktop. Log out Look
at the roaming profile on the share and desktop folder. No hello.txt
in there.
* Log in / log out. No change in behaviour.
* Reboot PC
* Log in/log out. No change again, still don't see that hello.txt
file. Hello.txc still remains on the desktop however (cached locally I
guess).
-----------------------------
Note permissions are set as follows:
Root profile folder
Administrator = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files)
Administrators = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files)
Authenticated users = List folder / Read data, create folders / append
data (this folder only)
Creator owner = Full control (subfolders and files only)
System = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files)
Ownder of folder = administrators
Profile folder share permissions:
Authenticated users = Full, change, read
Everyone = read
No cache on share
Auto generated profile folder for user
%Username% = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files)
System = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files)
Administrator = Full control (this folder, subfolders and files). This
setting was set in group policy.
Owner of folder = %username%
-----------------------------
Profile path is \\SERVERNAME\SHAREPATH$\%USERNAME%
When client PC logs in/logs out there are errors being displayed (e.g.
can't find profile path etc).
-----------------------------
Any ideas? It's exactly the same behaviour every time.
Currently I'm looking at the userenv.log, not having much joy....!
many thanks!
