Re: Remote web workplace access problems

Chris,

I am testing it using just the IP address instead of the full DNS name, can
I do that? Looks like it allow me to get to the first part, then give the
error "There is a problem with this website's security certificate.". But it
allowed me to proceed by clicking on the "Continue to access site".

However, the next page gave me the error "Error Code: 403 Forbidden. The
server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the
server administrator. (12202) "

Create the A record first....call it remote.domainname.com

Then run the CEICW page and use remote.domainname.com for cert page

Thanks for the quick response. We use the pop3 connector to retrieve mail
from our isp, which is where my confusion starts as all the help files
relate
to "mail.server.com" which I don't think I have. Our domain name is
sprintgroup.com so should the web server entry in the connection wizard
certificate page just be servername.sprintgroup.com and a dns record setup
by
our isp for this or am I on the wrong track?

To elaborate a bit

the correct URL for connecting to RWW is
http://servername.domainname.com/remote

where I've indicated servername....this could be a variety of things..

If you have mail coming directly to your Exchange server...then this
already
exists...

maybe its mail.domainname.com or remote.domainname.com

You could go to http://www.dnsreports.com and put in your domainname and
you'll find what that url should be

You need an A record on the DNS to access the server over the Internet
otherwise servername.domainname won't resolve to anything.

I can connect to my desktop at work from my home pc using a VPN
connection
set up with the sbspackage software without any problems. However when
I
try
to gain access using https://www.servername.domainname/remote or
https://servername/remote, I get an error 502 - host not found.
I can connect from a workstation on the network using
https://servername/remote or from the server with
https://localhost/remote.
Do I need to have my isp set up a DNS record for
servername.domainname?
We are using SBS 2003 Premium with 2 network cards and a Netgear DG834
adsl
router with a static ip address. Ports 443,444,4125,3389 on the router
are
forwarded to the ip address of the server's NIC connected to the
router.
Hope you can help
