I fixed the problem with the currupt drivers, but now I have another issue.
The printer was called. Canon LBP-3300, Share name CanonLAS.
Now, they use a specific application where the printers are hard coded. I
have setup a HP printer which works fine. However, to make it work with their
application I have changed its name to the canon name and the canon share.
After I do this, printspooler crashed on the server and all desktop pcs.
Once I rename the printer everything is fine.
Is there old data in active directory or something causing this error?

Hello Hayden,.
This is a update for you.
For how to remove the unnecessary driver:
1. open printers and faxes
2. click file-server properties.
3. click drivers tab and choose the driver to remove it.
Hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hello Hayden,
|
| Thank you for posting here.
|
| According to your description, I understand that you get print spooler
| error on your SBS 2000. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't
| hesitate to let me know.
|
| Based on my research, this error may relate to corrupted printer driver
and
| registry corruption in the print hive. I suggest we try the following
steps
| to see if we can resolve this issue:
|
| 1. Please delete unnecessary print monitor software and drivers from SBS.
|
| 2. Please clean the registry for printer:
|
| GO to registry editor in HKLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print
|
| Delete the problematic printer's key
|
| 3. Please check the spooler service in the services console and ensure it
| is set to automatic and status is started.
|
| If the issue persists, please do a clean boot on SBS to narrow down this
| issue:
|
| To clean boot the problematic computer, please use the steps below:
| a. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
| (without the quotation marks). Click OK.
|
| b. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
| the Selective Startup button.
|
| c. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
| Selective Startup.
|
| d. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft
Services"
| box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
| Services. Please note that the Exchange services could be marked as
| non-Microsoft. Please do not disable those services.
|
| e. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
| restart your computer in order to enable the changes.
|
| f. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.
|
| g. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
| services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root
cause
| of this issue.
|
| If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
| further investigation:
|
| 1. Save the application event log and system event log as evt files on
the
| problematic machines and send to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
|
| 2. Please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
| to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
|
| Hope these steps will give you some help.
|
| Thanks and have a nice day!
|
| Best regards,
